Steam-oil-ratios (SOR) range 3-10 bbls steam per bbl oil recovered, representing a savings of $10-$55/bbl oil. The higher GEM CAPEX ($20M v. $10M for 4400 bspd system) pay back is 17 mths for a $130M net simple savings in GEM OPEX (20 year equip. life).

This cost incentive will help to increase the availability of domestic oil reserves (e.g., Kern County, CA; TX Gulf Coast) and thereby help to decrease US reliance on foreign oil.
