Carbon Avoidance – GEM TEOR
As noted in the table under “Cost Savings”, the GEM TEOR method reduces the required gas by half (v. OTSGs), which also reduces by half the CO2 released to the ambient for TEOR operations.

Carbon Offset – Solar Ponds
A 2MWe solar pond (CA baseline system), producing solar-thermal electric power perpetually, will completely offset the CO2 released during the GEM TEOR phase.

Carbon Sequestration – GPGT Reservoirs
The spent Geopressured-Geothermal brine reservoirs (post GEM TEOR) will provide a reservoir for geo-sequestration of carbon, using industry methods currently in development.

The GEM TEOR method will result in a negative carbon footprint.
